Pure Insanity!

How long do we wait on the sidelines as we watch an authoritarian government commit crimes to its own human existence by refusing aid already rapping at the door and begging to help? Can you be so controlling and so insanely fearful of foreigners entering your country that you allow possibly a couple of million people to die so that you can continue to instill fear in your citizens in the future? The way the Burmese government is handling the Cyclone Nargis disaster has been terribly criticized. It is plain to see that they are 100% incapable of pulling off a disaster relief effort large enough to save their people. They own a ragtag team of ships and planes... Completely useless in this situation. So what do they do? Refuse help. And as an attempt to make foreign eyes ease the pressure, they show a select number of people staged relief sites that they have built. C'mon! Give us outsiders a little more credit.

More than 100,000 people have died, and this number is expected to soar. The total is in the hands of the junta. Time is of the essence, and they are willingly letting it slip through their fingers as we all watch with pain and frustration. In the end, can they be punished for turning a natural disaster which should have only taken a few thousand peoples' lives and turning it into a man-made catastrophe that puts millions of peoples lives on death's threshold? And why is China their buddy? Because they're undemocratic? Ugh. When things like this happen, it's so easy to say that there are many sucky people out there.

And adding to their senseless acts, they did an extremely poor job of warning their people that a cyclone was coming!
